11 Feb IES Miralbueno embarks on a desert adventure: Iron Panda'25
Between February 14 and 23 the students, Adrián Martínez and Sergio Martínez, together with their teacher David Poblador of the Professional Family of Transport and Vehicle Maintenance of the IES Miralbueno, Zaragoza will be responsible for the mechanical assistance of the Malavá-Team. It will be in the Iron Panda'25 that takes place in Morocco.
The Malavá-Team is the team formed by brothers Joaquín and David García Latorre, who have already participated in several editions of this competition. For its part, the participation of IES Miralbueno in this race is included in the regional innovation project: Iron Panda 2025 Mechanical Assistance, which has recently been authorized within the current call and is still open.
Sergio Martínez and Adrián Martínez are students in the 2nd year of the Medium Grade Training Cycle of Automotive Electromechanics. For them, participating in the Iron Panda is a challenge that, as they said in the presentation, they are still assimilating.
Participating in this race involves:
- Be in a unique raid that mixes off-road challenges with incredible landscapes.
- The possibility of bringing solidarity resources, such as school supplies and donations for local communities.
- Represent values: teamwork, self-improvement, solidarity and respect for nature.
So far, all the students of the 2nd year of Automotive Electromechanics have participated in the preliminary preparations. They have carried out technical modifications such as suspension reinforcement, electric fan, pre-filter, crankcase protection, etc. They have also carried out a complete overhaul of the vehicle, from engine and transmission to extreme terrain adjustments. They have also worked on lighting, navigation and improved seats.
In the classroom of IES Miralbueno they have also prepared the vehicle in which the mechanical team will travel: the Tuareg del Ebro, a completely renovated Mitsubishi Pajero.
The Iron Panda will take place over 8 stages. There will be seven days of competition and the last day of liaison. It alternates different scenarios such as tracks, sand rivers, dunes, lakes..., in a route that runs through the south of Morocco.
In this video you can learn all about this project and learn more about the Malavá-Team and the role of the mechanical equipment of the Vocational Training school, IES Miralbueno.
