Antón García Abril, a universal Aragonese for several generations

Antón García Abril, a universal Aragonese for several generations

Antón García Abril has been one of Teruel's most universal artists and his province and, in general, the whole of Aragon have always kept him in mind. He was awarded the Aragon Prize in 2003, in 1994 he received the Gold Medal of the Province and in 1978 the Cross of San Jorge awarded by the Provincial Council of Teruel, he was also awarded the Medal of Los Amantes and is one of the Favourite Sons of the City of Teruel.

This composer has not only stood out for his work in the audiovisual field. In 1989, the Aragonese Parliament commissioned him to write the Hymn of Aragon. His symphonic work includes most musical forms: compositions for orchestra, cantatas, concertos, chamber music and outstanding musical cycles, inspired by the most important Spanish poets.

The work of this Aragonese artist, born in Teruel in 1933, will undoubtedly endure in time and will continue to be present in our lives, instilling in us that little halo of nostalgia.
