CIFPA presentation at Vocational Skills Week (Helsinki)

CIFPA was invited by Joao Santos (Deputy Head of Unit in the Directorate General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission in Brussels) to participate with a presentation at the VET for ALL - Skills for Life conference held last 17 October in Helsinki, within the framework of the European Week of FP 2019.

Among the events held at the recent European Week of VET in Helsinki, the conference took place FP for All - Competences for life, inaugurated and closed by Joao Santos, the CIFPA was represented by the director of the centre, Antonio Carrión, and by the advisor Anna Kopeykina. The presentation by the CIFPA was limited to the scope of the Professional Excellence which promotes CEDEFOP (European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training) as a common framework for VET learning.

The concept of professional excellence proposed by CEDEFOP as a common framework is a holistic approach with the following characteristics:

  • It is an integrating part of skills ecosystems, contributing to regional development, innovation and intelligent specialization strategies.
  • It is part of the knowledge triangles, working in close collaboration with other education and training sectors, the scientific community and the private sector.
  • It enables students to acquire professional and key competences through high quality provision that is underpinned by quality assurance, builds innovative forms of partnerships with the world of work and is supported by continuous professional development of teaching and training staff, innovative pedagogies, mobility strategies and internationalisation.

Anna Kopeykina's presentation on the CIFPA was a clear example of how the strategic lines of the centre are aligned with the approach of Professional Excellence proposed by CEDEFOP.
