Zaragoza at the Moscow International Logistics Forum

The Innovation Centre for Professional Training in Aragon (CIFPA), as the CRN for Commercial Logistics and Transport Management, has among its objectives to be at the forefront of knowledge of new developments and technological advances in the sector. For this reason, one of its main aims is to create alliances between the productive sector, the University and Professional Training and, in the process, to give visibility to the Plaza Logistics Platform at an international level.

The most recent result of the alliance between CIFPA and Zaragoza Logistics Center (ZLC) has been the presence of both institutions, and the intervention of ZLC, in the International Logistics Forum that took place in Moscow between the 17th and 21st of February 2020 and which is held annually.

This international forum is a meeting point for professionals in the field of logistics, supply chain management, procurement, transport, storage, distribution, information technology etc. This meeting presents the latest developments in working procedures and the latest technologies related to transport and logistics.

Managers of large companies such as Decathlon, Coca-Cola, DHL or technology companies, as well as researchers from universities such as Parma, Modena and Otto von Guericke have presented interesting papers on their best management practices and on the latest research related to the sector. This meeting and exchange of experiences and good practices is of great benefit to the entire logistics and transport system.

The director of ZLC, Dr. Susana Val, presented in this forum an excellent paper on the concept of massification to improve transport networks. A hot topic today as efficiency is sought in the sector at the business and service level.

At the Moscow International Logistics Forum, throughout the week, there were discussions, lectures, working groups, seminars, professional sessions that revolved around the following topics:

- How can costs be optimized throughout the supply chain while increasing the level of service?

- How to synchronize and improve supplier and retailer interaction: from joint planning to MOQ regulation

- How to effectively automate logistics processes?

- How to optimize the operation of the stores or create a new one?

- How to correctly implement WMS?

The experience of participating in this forum has been very positive for both entities, ZLC and CIFPA, so our objective will be to be able to encourage and accompany other institutions and companies that can represent the Aragonese Community in this important international logistics and transport event. It is essential to establish alliances in order to develop positive strategies for the regional and national economy.
