Greenwashing... What are you talking about?

Greenwashing... What are you talking about?

We continue in our blog with the section: What are you talking about? It is a small contribution to this blog dedicated to Culture and in which we want to collect all those terms or expressions, whether or not they are included in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), but which for one reason or another, now or in recent years are "sounding" in the media, in the street, in our environment.

Today we are talking about GREENWASHING or ECOWASHING. It is a term that, fortunately, is not heard much, hopefully because it is a deceptive practice carried out by a few companies to show themselves to be "greener" than they really are.

GREENWASHING: It is an Anglo-Saxon term formed by green, green and washing. There are companies or organisations that invest in marketing to pretend that they are carrying out ecological and sustainable practices... when in reality they are simply "whitening" their façade. What they do, with their communication and marketing strategy, is to offer their public a very different image from the real one, based on the current policies of sustainability, environment and social responsibility, but carried out in their own way.

How do you see it?
