Metaverse... What are you talking about?

We continue in our blog with the section: What are you talking about? It is a small contribution to this blog dedicated to Culture and in which we want to collect all those terms or expressions, whether or not they are included in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), but which for one reason or another, now or in recent years are "sounding" in the media, in the street, in our environment.

Today we are talking about METAVERSO. It is a term that we have been hearing for a relatively short time, although it actually appeared in fiction literature some 30 years ago. Now it has "sounded" again coinciding with the change of name of the company Facebook to META. But behind metaverse is not only Facebook, but also many other technology companies that are researching, designing and launching new ecosystems through virtual reality (VR), albeit virtual ones.

METAVERSO: It is a new reality, a new world with the appearance of a video game in which people interact with their avatars. They will be spaces created by computer, in virtual reality (VR) in which, it is intended, we will be able to do things we do in the real world: participate in meetings, go shopping, attend exhibitions, theatre, cinema, exhibit objects from the world of design and fashion... according to experts, it is the next generation of the internet where people will be able to interact in an immersive way.

It opens up a world of doubts, doesn't it?
