Aragón wins Gold and Bronze medal at Spainskills

The Community of Aragon has returned from the #Spainskills2024, held in Madrid between April 9 and 13, 2024, with two medals. They have been days of many nerves, effort and, above all, pride for the work well done not only during the competition but also during the previous months.

The awardees were:

  • Gold Medal in refrigeration and air conditioning for Alex Caro Tello, from IES Virgen del Pilar, Zaragoza. The tutor has been Elena Mendoza who together with the teachers of this specialty of the center have been preparing the student.
  • Bronze Medal in Bakery for Sara López Rubio, from IES Miralbueno, Zaragoza. The tutor has been Ignacio Zopetti with whom all the teachers of the cycle have collaborated to make this medal materialize.

Students or recent graduates in Vocational Training selected in their respective communities participated in the national competition that took place in Madrid. In Aragon, the regional final was held last year at the Palacio de Congresos de Huesca. Thirty-one students or recent graduates of Vocational Training have traveled to Madrid representing 16 schools.

The Skills championship is popularly known as the "Vocational Training Olympics" and its objective is to promote these teachings by stimulating and motivating students and teachers. This initiative also aims to recognize the work of teachers, to create a meeting point between companies, teachers and students and to promote relations between the different educational centers in the country.

After the national competition, preparations begin for the European competition, WorldSkills Europe, and the world competition, WorldSkills, which will take place in Herning (Denmark) and Lyon (France), respectively.
