STEAM... What are you talking about?

STEAM... What are you talking about?

We continue in our blog with the section: What are you talking about? It is a small contribution to this blog dedicated to Culture and in which we want to collect all those terms or expressions, whether or not they are included in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), but which for one reason or another, now or in recent years are "sounding" in the media, in the street, in our environment.

Today we are talking about STEAM. It is not a term as such, it is an acronym. STEAM is the acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. We want to talk about STEAM, but with a focus on women because today, 11 February, is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

STEAM: We are talking about the acronym STEAM as it is 11 February, the date on which the International Day of Women and Girls in Science is commemorated. Promoting the entry of women into STEAM fields through the education and employment system is a priority for any country. The STEAM strategy is essential if innovation is to be encouraged. There is currently a significant demand for qualified STEAM professionals, so promoting interdisciplinary science and technology education at all levels of education, with special attention to female students, is something that must be done by all of us.

The International Day of Women and Girls in Science aims to achieve greater participation and inclusion of women and girls in the world of science and technology and thus break the gender gap.
