Narrative/storytelling... What are you talking about?

We continue in our blog with the section: What are you talking about? It is a small contribution to this blog dedicated to Culture and in which we want to collect all those terms or expressions, whether or not they are included in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), but which for one reason or another, now or in recent years are "sounding" in the media, in the street, in our environment.

Today we are talking about NARRATIVE. Narrative, but not as a genre or literary style but as narrative adapted to communication, marketing, business, education... what is also known as storytelling. The word narrative is moving from the literary sphere to other broader fields of research.

NARRATIVE/STORYTELLING: We focus on a very specific meaning of narrative, better known as storytelling, which is the use of narrative strategies to tell stories, anecdotes, events ... that help us to engage an audience or consumers. Especially in recent years we are hearing a lot of the term storytelling. It is a communication technique or strategy considered to be very effective when it comes to launching messages. Its aim is to achieve an emotional connection with the audience through a story. Because what we all know is: storytelling is an art.
