Unicorn... What are you talking about?

Unicorn... What are you talking about?

We continue in our blog with the section: What are you talking about? It is a small contribution to this blog dedicated to Culture and in which we want to collect all those terms or expressions, whether or not they are included in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), but which for one reason or another, now or in recent years are "sounding" in the media, in the street, in our environment.

Today we are talking about UNICORNS. Yes, yes, that mythological animal with a horn, which is usually drawn and painted with pastel colours, little hearts, little stars, rainbows... come on, it's cute. Well, no, that's not the UNICORNIO we want to tell you about.

UNICORNIO: the noun unicorn, as indicated by the Fundéu, is used in the business world to refer to those emerging companies (startups) that have managed to reach a valuation of one billion dollars. They are usually technology-based companies, million-dollar start-ups, innovative and technological and are based on the collaborative economy. They cease to be unicorn companies when they appear on the stock market.

Wallapop, Glovo, eDreams, Cabify and Idealista are some examples of Spanish startups that have been unicorns.
