Netiquette... What are you talking about?

Netiquette... What are you talking about?

We continue in our blog with the section: What are you talking about? It is a small contribution to this blog dedicated to Culture and in which we want to collect all those terms or expressions, whether or not they are included in the Dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy (RAE), but which for one reason or another, now or in recent years are "sounding" in the media, in the street, in our environment.

Today we are going to talk about Internet etiquette, i.e. the rules that regulate the way we communicate on the Internet, the rules of civility in cyberspace.

NETIQUETA or net etiquette is the set of rules intended to regulate our behaviour on the Internet and to ensure, in some way, a cordial and healthy coexistence in digital environments. We are all very aware that in real life, at work, at school, with our family, among friends... we stick to certain rules of behaviour, but what happens in our digital life?

There, we also have to "know how to be" in order to ensure an atmosphere of respect and cordiality among all of us. In short, it is a question of ensuring healthy, fun and enriching virtual relationships.

Practising NETIQUETA means following rules that govern all forms of interaction that exist in cyberspace: email, forums, blogs, websites, chats, social networks and other Internet applications and tools. You can find many different lists of rules, but ultimately it is about behaving online as we do in the real world: civically.
